CSR Takes Center Stage at PNBC Networking Luncheon

In the recently held Networking Luncheon of the Philippines Norway Business Council (PNBC), the topic of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) was given primacy. Again drawing its members to I’m Angus Steakhouse in Yakal Street, Makati City last 12 November 2014, the luncheon event featured three speakers from various non-government organizations.

CSR Working Group Head Rodolfo “Ozone” Azanza, Jr. introduced the speakers after giving a run-through of the CSR activities that PNBC had been involved with for the whole year of 2014.

The first to speak was Ms. Rose Verendia of Bridgebuilder Foundation Norway, Inc., who presented the programs and projects of the foundation to bring in street children in the area surrounding Baclaran Church in Paranaque City and give them another shot at either a formal education or some skills development that can allow them be productive members of society.

The second presentor was Mr. Benedict Carandang, who showed a video presentation of what Global Dignity is all about.

The final speaker was Dr. Joan Ledesma-Millonado, President of Tapulanga Foundation, who presented their scholarship programs and lunch-meal sponsorships to help the children of farmers in the Visayas have a crack at life through good quality education.

Both Bridgebuilder and Tapulanga have benefited in the past from a donation from PNBC as part of the latter’s education-focused CSR.
