CSR Corner: BW Shipping Donates Computers to Streetlight

As its banner CSR program, PNBC’s CSR Working Group has been encouraging council members to donate used computers and reference books to identified recipients since 2012.

In response, BW Shipping donated 10 sets of used computers and shipped them directly to the Streetlight Foundation in Tacloban City.

We recently got hold of Streetlight’s founder, Erlend Johanessen, and we learned that two of these computers are now used by social workers to administer Streetlight’s new program serving about 2400 children in their area of operations. The rest of the computers are allocated for turn over to a program called Scala, as a tie-up activity between Streetlight and the City Social Welfare Department (CSWD) of Tacloban City. Scala centers are being established by CSWD in various parts of the City to support ICT trainings for the youth.

Erlend Johanessen has sent his message of appreciation to both BW Shipping and PNBC for supporting Streetlight’s endeavours.
