PNBC Networking Luncheon re Crayfish Party

Typically, a CSR-related gathering is organized in December by PNBC, but Christmas came early this year as the Council held a CSR-themed luncheon this month. It was an opportune time since PNBC is a partner in this year’s Crayfish Party, dubbed as Asia’s biggest Viking Party for a Cause to be held at the Harbour Garden Tent – Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila this coming Saturday, 14 September 2019. The Party is a major charity event for the benefit of Chosen Children Village (CCV) in Silang, Cavite. As presented by Ms. Rosemarie Villa-real, the incumbent Treasurer and member of the CCV’s Board of Trustees, the Chosen Children Village is a home for abandoned children who are mentally and physically challenged. “The founder, Lita Fullerton, wanted to give dignity to unwanted children by providing a home where they can receive love, care and protection,” Ms. Villa-real explained.

The event was opened by PNBC President Ivar Thomasli, and the speakers were introduced by Board Director and Head of CSR Working Group, Mr. Rodolfo T. Azanza, Jr. of Norconsult Philippines. The event was held primarily to gather the interest of the Council members to support this undertaking.

The annual Crayfish Party is a showcase of Nordic culture celebrating the seasonal crayfish – a small freshwater crustacean that looks very much like lobster and is equally delicious. It has been held in the Philippines for 15 years now and for the first time, PNBC plays a major part as the partner of the Nordic Chamber of Commerce (NordCham) in the Philippines and Sofitel Philippine Plaza in the conduct of this momentous event. The party features a fusion of Nordic and Filipino cuisines, unlimited crayfish, bottomless beers, free-flowing wine and other beverages, sing-along songs and open dance floor. Wonderful prizes are also waiting for the lucky winners in the raffle draw.

Mr. Joona Selin, Executive Director of NordCham, also presented the upcoming events in the last quarter of this year, namely: the Nordic Awards Night on 23 October at Fairmont, the Maritime Forum on 6 November (venue to be announced); and Nordic Ambassadors’ Forum at Dusit Thani on 20 November.

Present at the PNBC event were Norwegian Ambassador Bjorn Jahnsen and key officers from the Embassy. The President of NordCham Philippines, Mr. Bo Lundqvist, was also in attendance.

See you all at the Crayfish Party, Asia’s biggest Viking Party for a Cause to be held at the Harbour Garden Tent – Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila this coming Saturday, 14 September 2019!
