PNBC Holds CSR-themed Christmas Networking Luncheon
Indeed, Christmas is in the air. And the Philippines Norway Business Council (PNBC) held its Christmas Networking Luncheon last Tuesday 8 December 2015 at its favorite venue, the I’m Angus Steakhouse in Yakal Street, Makati City.
As it was also done last year, the event adopted a CSR theme and invited Mr. Jose Angelito ‘Joel’ Palma, President and CEO of WWF-Philippines and Atty. Angelo Valencia and Atty. Belinda “Dixie” Dugan of Klasrum Ng Pagasa (KnP) Initiative to share their insights on their respective advocacies.
Mr. Palma talked about the environmental challenges in the Philippines, and the vulnerability of the country to the effects of climate change. He expounded on the connection between the environment and the economy, and how for example food production becomes susceptible to extreme weather changes.
Meanwhile, Atty. Angelo and Atty Dixie showed a CNN documentary on the Klasrum ng Pagasa initiative, and proceeded to give details on specific classroom/school-building projects the KnP team has done and those that are in the pipeline. Noteworthy is the newly completed 3-classroom building in Balbac, Palawan, which PNBC itself was a donor-participant, providing for the funds needed to build the roof, the ceilings and the termite treatment.
The luncheon event had a traditional Norwegian Christmas menu. To whet the appetite, Norwegian Gravlaks were served. The main course featured Pork Rib with Pork Sausage, Potatoes, Sauerkraut and Peas Pudding, and finally for the usual sugar fix, a trio of Seasonal Sweets.
PNBC’s VP Jannicke Steen hosted the event, and Board Director and CSR Working Group Head Rodolfo T. Azanza, Jr. moderated the presentations.
All in all it was a proper Norwegian Christmas luncheon, only without the snow.
Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
