CSR-THEMED CHRISTMAS EVENT HELD BY PNBC

It was another full-house event as the Philippine Norway Business Council (PNBC) held an early Christmas celebration last 07 December 2022 at the usual venue in Yakal St., Makati City.

Attendees from member companies and from the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Manila trooped to I’m Angus Restaurant to partake of the sumptuous Norwegian-inspired food and enjoy the company of fellow members in celebration of the Yuletide season. The opening remarks was delivered by PNBC President Carl Martin Faannessen.

The occasion was graced by the presence of Norwegian Ambassador Christian Lyster, who kindly gave a “year-in-review” presentation and likewise gave the broad strokes of what are the key programs for the upcoming year. He also unveiled to the crowd the official logo that shall be used in celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations between Norway and the Philippines.

Moreover, true to PNBC’s intent of highlighting corporate social responsibility, CSR TWG Head and Board Director Rodolfo Azanza Jr. introduced Atty. Edwin Calanog, the President of Tapulanga Foundation (www.tapulanga.org), an entity that has been a long-standing CSR-partner of PNBC. The Council has been maintaining two scholars with the Foundation; two boys who dream of becoming a seafarer and a soldier. Atty. Calanog took the audience through the history of Tapulanga (which is taken from the name for an indigenous flower in the Visayas) and showed how former scholars of the Foundation have successfully finished their education and are now not only employed but are also giving back by helping the younger generation of scholars. For as low as Php18,000/year, a good-hearted person or company could change the future of a child under Tapulanga’s program. Separately from PNBC’s support, our member Norconsult Philippines has been supporting the scholarship program of Tapulanga.

Those who wish to follow in the footsteps of PNBC and Norconsult in helping children grow up to their potential may directly contact the Foundation’s Executive Director Micmic Golez (micmic@tapulanga.org).
