Creating More Currents 2025

Dear members,

Philippines Norway Business Council (PNBC) ran its annual hashtag#CreatingMORECurrents on the 14th of November. What a day we shared.

We did the deep end of the pool before lunch: From the interview with Stein Vangen of Sjømannskirken, to a panel discussing death in the workplace (tears were shed and a powerful story was shared). After decompressing over lunch, we invited Professor Felipe de Leon to share his views on the similarities and differences between Filipino and Norwegian culture. All through the room, amidst the laughter, was the sound of pencils on paper.

Panels on individualism versus “kapwa” and forgiveness as a risk-factor followed (more pencil-work in the room). We wrapped it up with a panel discussing how best to deal with settlements after fatalities at work, where large family-networks bring their interests to bear – sometimes in surprising ways to all (still more pencils being worn to bluntness).

We don’t record and we don’t quote at these events. But we do bring back learning and memories. Join us next year ?

Thanks go to Rohan Shetty, Daryl Sevilleno, Dr. Didoy Lubaton, Raphael Aaron Letaba, Reverend Canon Stephen Miller, Stein Vangen, Patricia Dioneda, Vanessa Medina, Hollis Fernandez, Oliver Tacorda, Saben Loyola, maria sabbagha, Normita Hernandez and Agnes Sulit-Enesio. You made the discussions flow and the audience take notes.

The moderators were Karin Riska, Dona Marchadesch and Annaliza Dacer Vinoya. Thank you for taking the plunge.

All the legwork was done by Vanessa Torres, Khirsty Mae Filio, Daryl Sevilleno and Jan Andre’ Heggem. No you, no event.

A special thank you to our sponsors: Mintra, ShipMoney, Solvang ASA and Altera Infrastructure. Your support is important, and we hope you found the event worthwhile to be affiliated with.

Warm regards,
Carl Martin Faannessen
