Another PNBC Networking Luncheon with Focus on CSR

On 20 June 2013, we held our last networking luncheon before the Norwegian summer vacation. Although quite many of our members had left for holiday in Norway, 27 guests attended the luncheon at I’m Angus Steakhouse in Yakal Street, Makati City.

This time, our own board member, Finn T. Wattenberg, of British Armour Manufacturing International in Cebu, gave a presentation on a project very close to his heart. Finn is the President of Young Life Healthcare and Education Foundation. The organization provides healthcare and medical services to underprivileged children.

Young Life Healthcare and Education Foundation designs and delivers programs for targeted beneficiaries in coordination with the office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Finn mostly focused his presentation on the newly opened home for children, called House of Dreams. Located on the island of Mactan in Cebu, the house is a happy place for children in need. The House of Dreams is not an institution, but a real home for children where they can grow up in a safe and loving environment.

Young Life encourages the members of PNBC to visit The House of Dreams on a visit to Cebu. The foundation welcomes contributions, and information can be found on www.younglifeph.com.

In addition to Finn’s presentation, Benjamin Strandquist of the Royal Norwegian Embassy presented an ongoing children book project between the organization Streetlight, the Embassy and various artists. It aims to create a children’s book based on Norwegian folk tales with drawings by Filipino children, and the book tells the stories in Tagalog, English and Norwegian.

Our next networking luncheon will be in September 2013, and we look forward to seeing you all there.
