The story behind the event and message from the PNBC President Carl Martin

On March 30th, the Philippine-Norway Business Council resumed its physical members’ meetings. 50 members showed up, making it a full house at I’m Angus. Sadly, we had to decline a few late request to join as we had to limit capacity to a maximum of 50 participants.

In partnership with the Norwegian Embassy, we had speakers from the Board of Investments and the Department of Trade and Industry:

  • Ms. Marjorie O. Ramos-Samaniego, Governor of BOI, spoke of the recent changes in the Public Services Act and gamely fielded questions from the audience at the end.
  • Mr. Angelo Benedicto, Director of DTI’s Office of International Trade Relations, spoke of the utilization of the Philippines-EFTA Free Trade Agreement, showcasing ample room for growth for both the Philippines and Norway to develop trade further.

This was the first of a series of strong speakers and themes for the year ahead.

It was wonderful to see PNBC members again being able to engage in the good conversation upon which PNBC and good businesses are built. We look forward to numerous events throughout the year ahead of us. It is, however, important that all our members remain aware that Covid-19 is still with us. Our ability to continue to gather, hinges on all of us remaining vigilant and safe.

Last, we remind members to sign up early for our events. Seats are limited, and we are up against a hard limit of 50
