PNBC Luncheon tackles “Developing Asia”
This time, the PNBC Networking Luncheon featured Joseph Ernest Zveglich, Jr., Assistant Chief Economist at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), who was introduced to the audience by PNBC President Ivar Thomasli.
Mr. Zveglich gave an overview of the economic trend in “Developing Asia”, which interestingly had been growing robustly by more than 6% while the US and Europe barely grew at ~2% and less than 1%, respectively. The region is forecasted to continue growing steadily by 6.2% in 2014 and 6.4% in 2015. He enlightened the council members on some key trends in leading economies in the region such as China, Indonesia and the Philippines. There was very active participation from the crown during the Q&A, with questions relating to the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), the ongoing discussions about the ASEAN Economic Community, inclusive growth and education as key to breaking the vicious cycle of poverty.
Held anew at the I’m Angus Steak House in Yakal St., Makati, there were 32 attendees from various PNBC member companies who enjoyed the pre-luncheon mingling and exchanging of ideas and contact details. The food was, as usual, superb and delectable. It was yet another successful networking luncheon in Manila before people start heading back to Norway to enjoy the Norwegian summer.
